Batad - Tappia Waterfall Hike

Trip to Batad takes practically the whole day and recommended only to strong hikers. Approximately 16 kilometers from town proper, 12 kilometers of which is traveled by either a jeepney or a tricycle and the rest of the distance to be traversed by foot on mountain trails. Going down to the falls is a much easier 1 1/2 hour trek but the challenge lies on coming back where it took me almost three hours of climbing and trekking just to go back to our jeepney.

Although this probably is my hardest hike so far, (and would probably not climb a mountain again this year), I consider this hike one of the most memorable because of the magnificent landscapes and beauty of nature that surrounded me.

Let me share to you these photos I have taken during my hike:

Hanging House on the Way to Batad

"I am Half-way There." A bench overlooking the Place I have been.

Contoured and Amphi-theater like Rice Terraces of Batad

Clay and Stone Walking Trail that is Slippery When Wet.

A View of Batad Village

One of the Stop-Over in a Three-Hour Hike.

Niche at the Center of the Terraces. My guide said unclaimed bodies of hikers are temporarily placed here.

Tall Inverted-Cone Shaped Mountain Surrounded by a Stream.

The Refreshing Tappia Waterfall

A refreshing reward for an arduous trek.

Breath-taking pictures, Lawstude. really nice. i wish i could trek but that's among the things i have no liking for - climbing mountains, difficult trekking up steep inclines and the like. im realy a beach person, but still that doesn't mean i can't appreciate really good pictures like the ones you took in your trip to batad, banaue. amazing.

Ganda ng mga shots mo. The shade of green looks so cool. Ang view of batad pic is the most beautiful pic in this set of photos. yung falls, yung stop-over hut. halos lahat.

nakakarefresh ng mind.

Really nice shots! I can't imagine living at the edge of a cliff =) The green colors are very vibrant. The trek is definitely worth your while!

Lawstude said...

@ carletta - it is always my pleasure to share the beauty of my country with all of you.

Lawstude said...

@ prinsesamusang - i really hope so too. most of the houses in the area are standing bravely on the cliff. what a sight.

Lawstude said...

@ tina - i definitely agree. the fall is just so worth the trek.

Lawstude said...

Lawstude said...

@ alicesg - don't worry, these houses stood the tests of time.

the terraces in batad in my opinion are the best terraces in ifugao.

Lawstude said...

Lawstude said...

@ vinzent - i guess you can try small hikes first. there is something in trekking that is both meditative and healthy.

nevertheless, i do love beaches too. thanks.

Lawstude said...

@ jake tornado - indeed. figuratively and actually.

Lawstude said...

and i thank all of u guys for appreciating the pics and recognizing my efforts. sarap ng feeling.

Lawstude said...

@ stanley - thank you. i do not want to live on the cliff too. just too many perils.

yes, the trek is definitely worth it.

There are no words I could find to properly express the awe I feel looking at your pictures. They are trully nature's best. And the fact that they were not taken easily, that one has to really feel pain to capture it ... is trully amazing. You're like a hunter in search of a wild beast...hehe. And look at your treasures?!! It must be exhilarating!

thanks for sharing your priced treasures.

Happy Monday Guys. Another work-week ahead.

I had a stormy but great time in an island adventure with a good blogger and his friends over the weekend. I will feature the trip here soon.

@ R-yo - I feel that people in that house is in constant peril because of falling rocks and scarier cliff. Yoko doon tumira. Thanks.

Lawstude said...

@ sonia a.m. - thank you. it really is amazing considering all the elements of danger are present in the house's situation.

Lawstude said...

@ the islander - ayos na sana eh, kaya lang may pagulong-gulong pa at tatama pa ulo sa bato ;-).

Lawstude said...

@ ifoundme - yeah. i agree. gusto ko pumunta sa ibang bansa just to wander but not to live there.

bertN said...

I wonder why the owner built his house hanging on a cliff like that considering that there is so much space everywhere else? Is he suicidal or just anti-social? "You visit at your own risk - I may just obey the Law of Gravity anytime LOL.

Coldman said...

galeng! di ka ba naligo sa falls?

Uno said...

Sooo beautiful specially the waterfalls. The way you describe it thou is so tiring that I don't know if I can do the long hike but at least I saw the place because of your photos. Thank you for sharing them.

Thanks for the comment you left in my blog. You don't have to print/publish this. Just want you to know i appreciate the response and theres nothing to thank me about. You deserve it. It even earned you a place on my blog picks (as you noticed there's not much there). For someone like me who is stuck in a place... you're pictures can definitely send me to places i never thought existed. So don't bother about it! Fly high ... reach the sky! basta may pictures kami!

As I looked at all your wonderful photos it is so therapeutic :D

Lawstude said...

@ bertn - lols. although the house is indeed situated ona most perilous place, it does help travelers 'cpz there ain't that too many house on that part of the road. the road is too narrow that the only place to build a house was really on the cliffs.

Lawstude said...

Lawstude said...

@ uno - my guide said it is only a two hour trek so i braved it. and i guess minsan nakukuha rin talaga sa lakas ng loob.

Lawstude said...

@ kegler747 - same here bro. baka pag may dumaan sasakyan akala ko lindol na.

Lawstude said...

@ EM - thanks again and i'll try my best to show and share more of what Pinas can offer.

Lawstude said...

@ anonymous - you really have to be there because no amount of pictures can compare to the feeling that you are actually witnessing the beauty of the place.

Lawstude said...

@ vanessa - thanks. i too can't get enough of the falls.

Lawstude said...

Lawstude said...

@ freddy - thanks for liking the pics. i appreciate.

Lawstude said...

@ GMG - welcome back sir. i guess work really put some toll on our trips. just feel free to go back here anytime.

Lawstude said...

@ shionge - yeah i agree. i often look at these pics when i am stressed-out from work. thanks for the visit.
